The Preds are 4-0-1 against St. Louis this season. I'm ok with that.

Ellis sent down to MIL

Honestly, our team is better with him than without him.

«Roman Josi’s goal was another by-product of the addition of stay-at-home defenseman Hal Gill to the lineup. The pairing allows Josi to take better advantage of pinch-in situations.»

How does Gill look so far?

Really like thay guy and wish him well.

Looks good so far. Could have cost us a point in his first game against Dallas when he took a penalty with 2:03 left in the game and the Predators up by just 1. That would have been ironic, but the Preds killed it off and got the win.

In the game against Vancouver he made a great diving poke on a penalty kill that sprung Fisher and Kostitsyn for a short hander.

Then yesterday's play by Josi probably wouldn't have happened with another d-man. I don't think Josi would have felt as safe joining the rush.

I think he recognizes his limits (speed). He seems to make himself as big as possible to an on rushing forward to slow the attack recognizing that he's gonna get beat. Once that happens though, he circles around to the front of the net to take up space and block the shooting lanes.

No doubt it's gonna cost us an occasional goal, but for the most part he's smart and plays a good positional game.

I do cringe a little if he's the first one back to a puck behind our net and there's any sort of pressure coming.

Looks like the trade market is going to be pretty small before the deadline. I would love to have Brown from LA if he is indeed being shopped - but given the scarcity of top forwards available I imagine Poile is going to go with the team as-is the rest of the way.

It's going to be a tough stretch the rest of the way...the West as usual is still a guessing game from seeds 2-8. I don't think Detroit is going to give up that #1.

It was suggested on Twitter by @RLDhockey that Nashville could offer Colin Wilson, Jon Blum & 1st for Brown? What does everyone think of that? I hate to lose Wilson just based on how he has been playing and only being 21 but Brown is a 60 point guy who is under contract for another 2 years.

I think I would be ok with that. The guy is a leader on and off the ice. You can never have too much of that.

If there was no budging the Kings on that it'd be hard to pass up, but I sure would try my darndest to come up with a package that didn't include Wilson. Brown is nails, though. I bet going to a new team and getting the "C" off his chest will rejuvenate him. Ever since the Kings made him captain it seems like he's toned down his hitting. Like he didn't want to make himself a target and obligate his teammates to back him up. When he sets his mind to it he can really drop the hammer, though. That's something I think we don't have enough of among the forwards right now.

After looking at the other "offers" being posited in the Kings blog, this one actually seems the most reasonable and equitable to both sides.

It would depend on the other teams bidding for him, but I would like to think you could get him without including Wilson. Blum and a 1st is a pretty good return. Throw in a 4th liner and maybe it would be enough?

Having him for another 2 years at his current salary would be great for this team.

I agree on trying to keep Wilson out of it if at all possible. But who would you put in there maybe a Spaling or Halischuck or Bourque? What about a prospect like Watson?

I think it'd take someone younger than Smithson.

My opinion is that it's too much. Drop the 1st rounder and add maybe a 3rd or 4th to it.

I was thinking that, but I like the energy he brings. Sheesh, I'm glad I'm not a GM.

Funny bit: Someone in the Kings thread mentioned anyone wanting to sweeten their offer without giving up more should just agree to take Penner off L.A.'s hands in the deal

If that's what it takes I'll happily take Penner and watch him sit idle for 3 months while Brown rolls through the playoffs in Predators gold.

So basically the offer is a 1st rounder?

I just dont think a guy who has never had double digit goals, a guy that slumped in the NHL and now in the AHL, and a 1st rounder is enough for a guy who is the Captain and has scored 25+ goals every year over the last 4 years....

Lindback (so the can move Bernier), a 1st and someone off Smith/Horny/Leggy/Wilson.

(Yes I said Leggy....trade a 40 points making $4.5 for a 60 making $3.5)

I think it will pain us who we will have to give up, but his stats and great contract will be worth it.

NO WAY DO WE INCLUDE WILLY. he is younger, cheaper and has more upside let alone the fact if we are "going for it" we dont move a current roster guy. blum... fine. a 1st... fine. another prospect not named ellis.... fine. get him, but no, NO, roster player. at least not one of importance. a watson, bourque, etc would be acceptable even though we need watsons size and bourque has played well.

Change Wilson to Watson and I'd make that deal.

To LA: Watson, Blum, and 2012 1st round pick

To NSH: Dustin Brown
